Target Shooting Tragedy
Tuolumne County, CA — Target shooting ended in tragedy for one Family this weekend. 44 year old Tim Kolman and two of his nephews, went target shooting in the Lyons Creek area late Saturday night, June 9th.
According to Sgt. Jeff Wilson, “In the early morning hours of Sunday, Tuolumne County Sheriff Office Detectives were called out to investigate a fatal shooting.” The Sheriff office reports that 44 year old Kolman was fatally shot during the late night target shooting. Statements have been obtained from Kolman’s nephews.
Wilson noted that they do not know who reported in the incident to 911 at approximately 1:00AM, cell service in the area is poor. He did confirm that they are investigating if there were other people shooting in the area at that time. As far as Sgt. Wilson knew, there was only three of them in the group.
As of Monday morning, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation by going over the scene and processing the evidence collected.
An autopsy will be scheduled by the TCSO Coroner.
Lyons creek is in Stanislaus National Forrest above Twain Harte and Mi-Wuk, the creek is below the Long Barn area.
