Burglary Suspect Caught-In-The-Act

Sponsored by:

Valley Springs, CA — A Calaveras County woman was arrested for allegedly breaking into a Valley Springs home.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that it happened in the 8300 block of McAtee Street. A person living in the home witnessed the crime taking place and provided play-by-play updates to the Sheriff’s Office while he awaited the arrival of a deputy. A woman had parked a vehicle in his driveway, and he could hear her going in and out of his basement. She was taking items from the home and then placing them on the front porch.

When a deputy arrived, the woman was immediately confronted. 39-year-old Tina Louise Harris told the deputy that she was looking for a place to live, and was just cleaning up for the homeowner. She admitted going into the garage and basement, but claimed that she was not stealing anything. Harris was arrested and booked into Calaveras County Jail. It was the second report of a burglary taking place at this particular residence, so the Sheriff’s Office is looking into whether the two incidents are connected.
