Measuring Rain And Snow In The Mother Lode

Sonora, CA — Recent storms have brought .75 inches of precipitation in the form of rain in downtown Sonora. Historical results collected in downtown Sonora are accessible in our weather section here.

As reported last week in a story quoting the Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD), Sonora typically receives 17 inches of rain around this time of year. To date there has been nine and a half inches.

Snow has been falling in the high country this week. Bear Valley Reports has received 11 inches in the last 48 hours bringing the season total to 129 inches. In an average season Bear Valley reports 360 inches of snow.

Dodge Ridge says in the last 24 hours they received 4 inches above 7,000ft. Dodge expects more snow this weekend.
