T.U.D. Requests More Conservation

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne Utilities District has decided to enact Phase Two water conservation measures. Spokesperson Lisa Westbrook, released information sent to customers about the conservation measures. Westbrook said “The information that we put together for our customers is to let them know how they can conserve.”

The water restriction notice says “Due to dry winter conditions, the District’s water supply is lower than average. The District is instituting voluntary water conservation (Phase II Water Conservation) measures effective immediately.”

Recent rain totals are estimated at a modest 1.5 inches in the last 48 hours. The snow report here, says Dodge Ridge received 19 inches of snow and Bear Valley 15 inches in the last 48 hours. This storm doesn’t come near balancing out the dry conditions that persisted through the winter season.

Westbrook said, “We plan to put a formal news release together after we get a chance to review the storm totals.”

The conservation measures in the information sent out to customers include fixing all leaking faucets and fixtures and limiting outside watering.
