More Remains Found In San Andreas

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — More human remains were located outside the former family home of Wesley Shermantine in Calaveras County.

Deputy Les Garcia of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department confirms that the bone fragments were found Thursday, but could not provide any further details. The remains were sent to a lab for DNA analysis. The earlier remains found in San Andreas were positively identified as Cyndi Vanderheiden and Chevelle Wheeler. Those killings are connected to the so-called “Speed Freak Killers,” Wesley Shermantine and Loren Herzogg.

An investigation is ongoing. Over 1,000 bone fragments were also found in a well near Linden earlier this month.

The San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office continues to have a hot line at (209) 468-5087 where people can call if they believe a missing relative might be among the remains yet to be identified.
