Chase Suspect Identified
Sonora, CA — The Sonora man that led CHP officers on a high speed chase yesterday has been identified as 21-year-old Edward Lee Jones.
CHP Officer Brad Schultz says officials attempted to pull over Jones near the Mono Way-Greenley Road intersection because his car had expired tags and a loud exhaust. Jones stepped on the gas and led officers on a chase past the Junction Shopping Center and over towards Standard. Jones turned right onto Standard Road and drove into a nearby field. The vehicle eventually collided with a ravine. Officer Schultz says Jones was captured following a short foot chase in which the CHP received assistance from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones faces charges related to evading an officer. He was in the news last April regarding an altercation. To read the story click here. He was also involved in an October fight, which you can find by clicking here.
