Progress In Carstens Fire
Mariposa County, CA — Fire Fighters gain a little bit of ground on the wildfire in Mariposa County. Cal Fire reports the blaze is now 65 percent contained with almost 2.5 miles of vegetation scorched. 50 homes on two mountain roads are still threatened and those residents have been evacuated. Fire investigators say a campfire that was not extinguished sparked the blaze.
Cal Fire reports nearly 1,500 fire fighters are battling the blaze from the ground and air including 76 engines, 45 fire crews, 9 dozers, 14 water tenders and 7 helicopters. Many of the fire fighters are with the U.S Forest Service.

Update 7am: Cal Fire reports fire is 70 percent contained.
Update 9am: Cal Fire reports all evacuation orders have been lifted. Residents with identification are being allowed back into their homes.
