Vacationland Stop Coming Soon

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau is opening a new Visitors Center in downtown Sonora. The new “Vacationland” Center will be at the Day-O Plaza off Washington Street. The TCVB says the idea is to be in a visible location where visitors can easily find the center.

The Bureau hopes the new central location will bring in more walk-in traffic and will give staff more opportunities to tell travelers about what there is to see and do in the county. The TCVB says having staff available to talk to visitors increases the chances they will stay longer and do more than they may have originally planned.

The center will also offer tickets for various events throughout the County as well as Vacationland merchandise. That includes children’s travel games, books, t-shirts, magnets and postcards. Also, local residents can take advantage of the center when planning day trips as there will be regional and statewide travel information available.

The TCVB is working towards a May 1, 2013 opening day which they say is just in time to celebrate National Tourism Week. The new center will be evaluated after six months. The TCVB says if all goes well the bureau will shut down the visitors center across from the Mother Lode Fairgrounds and this will be a permanent location. However, the bureau’s business office would remain across from the fairgrounds.
