Sponsored by:

Governor Jerry Brown issued a statement regarding last week’s shooting death of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Detective Jeremiah Alan Mackay.

Brown was Tuesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.  Here were his words:

“Anne and I were deeply saddened to learn that a second law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty by a desperate gunman. Detective Mackay gave his life bravely in service to his community and to California. We honor his sacrifice and send our condolences to his family, friends and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

We also thank the entire law enforcement community for their tireless work to apprehend the suspect.”

Detective Mackay, 35, was shot and killed in a gunfight with the wanted subject. He is survived by his wife and two children.

On Thursday February 7th, 34-year-old Riverside police officer, Michael Crain, was gunned down by the same subject while stopped at a traffic light in the city of Riverside.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
