Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A taskforce looking to streamline county government has released its formal recommendations regarding the future of many of the planning commissions and design review committees.

The issue will go before the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors at its next meeting on February 5th. County documents show that the taskforce is recommending the elimination of the Jamestown Area Planning Commission, Columbia Area Planning Commission, Southern Tuolumne County Planning Commission, Muller Subdivision Design Review Committee, Phoenix Lake Estates Design Review Committee, Tuolumne Design Review/Planning Advisory Committee, and the Twain Harte Design Review/Planning Advisory Committee.

The group recommends keeping the Tuolumne County Planning Commission, the Historic Preservation Review Commission, and the Agricultural Advisory Committee.

In addition, they would like to see the membership of the Board of Supervisors Planning Committee modified so that it includes two Supervisors, two members of the Planning Commission and one at-large member.

The Supervisors are scheduled to discuss the recommendations at 11am next Tuesday during the scheduled board meeting.

Members of the task force included:
Evan Royce – Board of Supervisors
Bob Steele – Tuolumne County Planning Commission
Philip Reiss – Columbia Area Planning Commission
Richard Cavil – TH Design Review Committee
Mark Banks – TC Building Industry
Ron Kopf – TC Business Council
Ron Gianelli – Ag Advisory Committee
