Update: Pile Up On HWY 4
Update at 6:35 p.m.: The CHP is reporting minor injuries in the pile up. Two people involved in the crash complained of chest pains, according to the CHP. One person was flown to a Modesto hospital and another was taken via ground ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora. A tow crew remains on the scene working to clear the wreckage. Officers are still directing traffic, but the CHP hopes to have Parrotts Ferry Road reopened shortly. Further details on the collision are below.
Update at 6:15 p.m.: The CHP reports that one person was flown from the scene to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. There is no word on that person’s condition or any other injuries at this time. Officers are directing traffic as tow crews work to remove the wreckage that is blocking Parrotts Ferry Road. The CHP hopes to have the roadway cleared of debris shortly.
Original post at 5:45 p.m.: Vallecito, CA — Emergency responders are on the scene of a pile up on Highway 4 in the Vallecito area of Calaveras County.
Three vehicles collided at the intersection of Parrotts Ferry Road, blocking that roadway. The CHP reports that two vehicles hit head-on and one went off the roadway and down an embankment. An air ambulance along with ground ambulances have been called to the scene. The crash happened during the evening commute at around 5:30 p.m. We will have an update as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
