Free Snowshoe Hike This Saturday
The Tuolumne River Trust will host a free snowshoe hike in the Sierra Nevada this Saturday, January 26th.
Seth Connolly, Tuolumne River Trust staff member, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
According to Connolly, “We will be meeting in Pinecrest at the Crabtree Trail Head located off of Dodge Ridge Road, just before the entrance of the Dodge Ridge parking lot.”
This will be a three hour, moderate hike. The hike will start 9 am and continue through noon.
The Tuolumne River Trust is an environmental nonprofit representing the Tuolumne River from its headwaters in the Sierra Nevada, through the Central Valley, and all the way to San Francisco Bay. Since 1981, they have promoted river stewardship through advocacy, collaboration, education, and restoration projects. They have offices in Sonora, Modesto and San Francisco,
Participants on the hike this Saturday can expect to learn about natural and human history, snow hydrology and plant and animal adaptations in the Tuolumne River Watershed.
All of the hikers will be required to sign a liability waiver. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Snowshoes will not be provided, but they can rented through a number of recreational businesses.
Space is limited, so make your reservations by e-mailing seth@tuolumne.org or call 949-533-2346.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML.
