Second Weekend In December Events

There are several holiday plays, a few parades and more events scheduled for this weekend.

At Murphys Creek Theater enjoy the play Inspecting Carol which opened last weekend and will continue performances through December 23rd.

The Mountain Youth and Community Theatre (MYACT) is performing Scrooge The Musical. Opening weekend was last weekend this weekend will be the last performances at 2pm and 7pm. Details are here.

Sierra Repertory’s East Sonora Theatre is showing HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS: Musical Theatre and at Fallon House in Columbia catch Away In A Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas the final performance is this Sunday at 2pm.

As detailed here Friday at 5:30PM is the Twain Harte Winter Wonderland Parade and in Tuolumne the TPRD Christmas Parade and Craft Fair will be held at the West Side Memorial Park.

Saturday night in Sonora at the Aronos Club is the 10th Annual Santa’s Gone Hawaiian Family Holiday Concert. The event is presented by local women educators of Delta Kappa Gamma/ Iota Epsilon Chapter, and will offer feature a Family-Friendly Raffle with many prizes and refreshments. The event is a fundraiser for local family literacy projects and scholarships for Tuolumne County’s graduating seniors.

For even more Christmas viewing entertainment drive by the 2018 Christmas Light Show after dark to see the free animated light show off Phoenix Lake Road. The map location is in the community event listing here. The display is put on by the Athletic Scholarship Foundation of Tuolumne County through Christmas Eve.

At the Union Congregational Church in Angels Camp the Mountain Melody Winter Concert will begin at 3pm on Saturday. Details on their Sunday concerts are in our events calendar here. Nearby in Murphys expect the tasting rooms to be decorated and open for the Holiday Festival of Wines Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday from 9am to 11:30am have Breakfast with Santa at the Jamestown community Hall. Later in the morning Santa will also be in Columbia for photos with all  proceeds go to supporting Grandma’s House programs for children. Details are here.

Visit Groveland and at the Evangelical Free Church Pine Cone Singers concert from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

In Mountain Ranch’s Community Hall enjoy their Chocolate Festival.

Sunday unwind with a walk at Natural Bridges with the ranger led “If These Rocks Could Talk” event.

Sunday the Red Cross Office will be open for Safety with Santa from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Enjoy dessert as local emergency services give demonstrations and information about safety and how to be prepared for an emergency.

To close out the weekend Columbia will host the 36th annual Las Posadas Nativity Procession. With a distinctive 1850s flavor the Spanish tradition that re-enacts the biblical story of Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter in Bethlehem on the original Christmas Eve will begin at 5:30pm on Sunday.
