Will Stage 3 Theater Find A New Home?

Sponsored by:

Stage 3 Theatre Company is hosting preview night at Sierra Repertory Theater’s dress rehearsal presentation of Intimate Apparel this Thursday October 11 at 6 p.m.

Connie Williams, Stage 3 Board Chair, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmkaer of the Day”.

The proceeds for this event will kickoff Stage 3’s fundraising program created to reestablish Stage 3 in historic downtown Sonora.

Tickets are $30 each or two for $50. Light hors d’oeuvres are included. Beer and wine will be served at a no-host bar. The curtain goes up at 7 p.m.

Williams said that the theater company is still looking for a permanent home for the 2019-2020 season.

According to Williams, the efforts have been productive and informative but no affordable permanent home has jumped out to the Stage 3 board. They have concluded it will take someone in the business community to step up with creative ideas and possible funding or a possible government/private sector arrangement to establish a cultural arts venue in downtown.

Meanwhile, ‘Intimate Apparel’ at Sierra Repertory Theater is a play written by Lynn Nottage. The play is set in New York City in 1905 and concerns a young African-American woman who travels to New York to pursue her dreams, becoming an independent woman as a seamstress.

Tickets are available by telephone 209.536.1778 or at the door at SRT’s East Sonora box office the night of the event. Board members are also selling tickets. Tickets are $30. each or two for $50.

According to Williams, there are only about 20 seats left, as of this morning.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML.
