Update: Oakdale Vegetation Fire Contained
Update at 4:45 p.m.: Crews have contained a vegetation fire burning along 26 Mile Road near Sonora Road in the vicinity of Woodward Reservoir, off Highway 108 in the Oakdale area of Stanislaus County. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that it was dubbed the Milton Fire and contained at 1.7 acres. She adds that crews will remain on scene mopping up and check for hotsports for the next hour. What sparked the fire is under investigation.
Update at 2:50 p.m.: Crews are getting a handle on a vegetation fire burning along 26-mile Road near Sonora Road in the vicinity of Woodward Reservoir, off Highway 108 in the Oakdale area of Stanislaus County. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that all Columbia aircraft have returned to base as the fire’s forward rate of spread has been stopped. She adds that crews will remain on scene to reach full containment on the blaze and mopping up for the next several hours. What sparked the fire is under investigation.
Original post at 2:30 p.m.: Oakdale, CA — Columbia aircraft just took off to assist in battling a vegetation fire in the Oakdale area of Stanislaus County.
The flames are burning along 26 Mile Road near Sonora Road in the vicinity of the Woodward Reservoir. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore details that the blaze is an acre in size and the flames are butting up against an orchard. She adds that no structures are threatened at this time.
