One Race Remains Close In Tuolumne County

Tuolumne County, CA —  The Twain Harte Community Services District Board race is too close to call.

Voters were asked to pick three out of the five candidates running and they were separated by just a few votes. Leading the race with 330 votes is Dennis Mitchell. Then the race tightens between the remaining candidates. In second place is Gary Sipperley with 242, followed by Mary Dearborn in third with 232, and Rich Knudson with 224 in fourth place. Tuolumne County Clerk and Auditor-Controller Donnie McNair explains, “Twain Harte Community Services District is the top three and the difference between the third and fourth is only 8, and the difference between the fourth and second is 18. So, that is pretty tight between 2, 3, and 4. That is not a race that is close to being called.”

McNair added that there are still around 4,400 ballots to tabulate, which includes mail-in and conditional ballots. He added, “All the ballots that were dropped off at any of the drop-off ballot boxes on election day, and anything that would be postmarked and sent through the mail and received in the next seven days. We still have conditional ballots, as well, which are individuals who hadn’t registered to vote by October 21st but still came into one of the vote centers, so they cast a conditional ballot. So, we have to go through the registration process with them before being able to count their ballots.”

McNair hopes to have those votes counted by Friday (11/8).
