Update: HWY 108 Blocked After Rollover Crash

Update at 4:50 p.m.: The CHP updates that a rollover crash on Highway 108 between Cold Springs and Strawberry has been cleared. They report it took longer to reopen the roadway, as after removing the wreckage, a tow crew found oil spilled from the vehicle onto the roadway that needed to be cleaned up. That has happened and the highway has completely reopened to motorists.

Update at 4:15 p.m.: The CHP reports that due to an oil spill on the roadway, officers are still directing one-way traffic. They say the roadway will not completely reopen until it is cleaned up. No estimated time was given for reopening the roadway.

Update at 2:45 p.m.: A tow crew is working to remove a Subaru Outback that overturned on Highway 108 between Cold Springs and Strawberry on Highway 108, impacting traffic in Tuolumne County. Officers continue to direct one-way traffic and hope to have the roadway completely reopened shortly. The CHP now reports minor injuries in this crash, with further details below.

Update at 2:12 p.m.: First responders remain on the scene of a solo vehicle collision between Cold Springs and Strawberry on Highway 108 impacting traffic. The CHP reports a Subaru Outback overturned and landed on the highway, blocking both lanes, and its front axle ended up 20 to 30 feet off the roadway. One person was flown from the scene but their condition is unknown. They add that officers have begun one-way traffic control on the highway.

Original post at 1:50 p.m.: Tuolumne County, CA — First responders are on the scene of a solo vehicle collision between Cold Springs and Strawberry on Highway 108 impacting traffic.

The CHP reports that a vehicle overturned and is blocking both lanes of the highway at the Crabtree Road intersection near Old Strawberry Road. There is no word on injuries but an air ambulance has been called to the scene. Officers are directing traffic and there is plenty of activity so motorists may want to avoid or be prepared for delays. We’ll bring you an update as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
