Potential Planned Power Outage For Thousands In Tuolumne County

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Due to concerns about high winds, there could be a PG&E planned power shutoff in the Mother Lode sometime between Thursday and Saturday.

Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services Coordinator Dore Bietz stated at today’s board of supervisors meeting that she is in contact with PG&E officials, adding, “It looks like it could affect about 3,800 customers. Looking at the maps, the areas possibly affected, Thursday through Saturday, would be Yankee Hill, Cedar Ridge, Mi Wuk Village, Sierra Village, Long Barn, and up Highway 108 to Strawberry. We will be coordinating with our partners.”

PG&E officials indicated that more information should be known later today about the strength of the weather system and if a planned outage will move forward. If one is called for, PG&E indicates that a Community Resource Center will be set up at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. Planned outages could also be carried out in surrounding counties.

We will pass along more information as it becomes available.
