Prescribed Burn Continues In Stanislaus National Forest
Calaveras, CA– Crews on the Stanislaus National Forest’s Groveland and Calaveras Ranger District are pressing ahead with prescribed burn operations, aiming to diminish log decks and piles scattered across the forest.
On the Calaveras side, personnel will concentrate efforts in the Gannes Meadow vicinity, situated north of Highway 4, to eradicate landing piles measuring 40 feet by 50 feet and 20 to 30 feet high. Motorists traveling along the highway should anticipate visible smoke and flames emanating from the area.
Meanwhile, in the Groveland Ranger District, crews are slated to tackle pile reduction activities around Evergreen Lodge. Successful execution of the planned burns is anticipated to mark the conclusion of pile-burning operations for the season, as the district gears up to initiate broadcast and understory burning endeavors.
While pile-burning operations are expected to have minimal smoke impacts, residents are advised to monitor air quality conditions through the AirNow.gov website and take appropriate measures as needed. For any inquiries or concerns, individuals are urged to reach out to Forest Public Affairs Officer Benjamin Cossel at benjamin.cossel@usda.gov or 209.288.6261.
