Calaveras Developing Master Plan For Future Park Improvements
San Andreas, CA — Noting that outdoor spaces play a vital role in the community, Calaveras County will soon hold a series of public meetings focused on its local parks.
The county has hired O’Dell Engineering to develop its first Parks Master Plan. The document will assess current and future recreation needs, establish a long-term vision, prioritize capital improvement projects, promote new partnerships, reduce redundancies, build community support, and encourage new opportunities for future development.
The Parks Master Plan will encompass the following County parks and facilities:
• Alex Quinones Park, San Andreas (leased to San Andreas Recreation and Park District -SARPD)
• Nielson Park, San Andreas (leased to San Andreas Recreation and Park District – SARPD)
• Mountain Ranch Community Park (leased to Mountain Ranch Community Club – MRCC)
• Murphys Park, Murphys (leased to Murphys Community Club – MCC)
• Rail Road Flat Community Center, Rail Road Flat (leased to Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council – BMCRC)
The goal of the upcoming meetings is to analyze current programs and facilities and to consider community needs and aspirations.
The Community Meetings will be held at 5:30 PM on the following dates:
• Wednesday April 3rd, 2024, Calaveras County Firehouse, 6501 Jenny Lind Rd Valley Springs
• Thursday April 4th, 2024, Governor’s Mansion, 101 Stone Street Copperopolis
• Thursday April 11th, 2024, West Point Community Hall 22283 State Route 26 West Point
• Wednesday April 17th, 2024, Native Sons Hall 389 Main Street Murphy’s
• Thursday April 18th, 2024, Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial 300 W Daphne Street Valley Springs
For those unable to attend the meetings, but still wishing to give input, there will be a survey on the Calaveras County government website starting on March 29.
