T.U.D. Eyes CAL OES Grant For Lyons Tunnel/Pipeline

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Utilities District Board of Directors will vote on submitting a grant request to the California Office of Emergency Services for up to $3-million.

If approved by the state, the money would go towards the preliminary design, environmental and permitting work for a tunnel/pipeline that would extend from Lyons Reservoir to the district’s Section Four Ditch. The “Lyons Main Canal Emergency Tunnel/Pipeline Resiliency Project” would help protect and improve the district’s infrastructure and water supply. The district is looking to develop the project to the point where it is “shovel ready” and more likely to receive later state or federal grants for construction.

The potential grant through CAL OES would require a 25-percent funding match from T.U.D.

It is on the agenda for the meeting which will start at 5:30pm on Tuesday in the T.U.D. meeting room.
