Update: Highway 4 Reopened After Deadly Crash

Update at 12:35pm: The CHP reports that Highway 4, which was shut down for about an hour and a half after a two vehicle crash, has reopened. The accident happened around 11 a.m. when two vehicles collided near Stallion Way. CHP spokesperson Rebecca Myers says a passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no further details on how many individuals or other possible injuries were involved in the crash.  The investigation into the wreck is ongoing, according to the CHP.

Update at 11:15am: The CHP reports that at least one person has died as a result of the crash on Highway 4 near Stallion Way. Highway 4 is expected to be closed for an extended period, so continue to avoid the area this morning. Pool Station Road remains the alternate route.

Original story posted at 11am: There is a major crash on Highway 4 near Stallion Way in Calaveras County.

The CHP reports that two vehicles are involved in the incident, and ambulances are being requested. There are reportedly three people who have sustained injuries. Traffic is not moving on Highway 4, according to the CHP, so you will want avoid the area this morning. An alternate route around the crash site would be via Pool Station Road.
