Two Solo Wrecks Leave One With Major Injuries, Another With A DUI
San Andreas, CA – Two men in separate solo wrecks over the weekend are each dealing with the consequences of their crashes.
In the early hours Saturday, a San Andreas man who suffered major injuries somehow managed to extricate himself from the wreck of his pickup truck and dial 911.
According to the San Andreas CHP, the crash occurred on Calaveritas Road, south of Mountain Ranch Road and involved 22-year-old John D. McAllister, Jr., who was headed north at an unknown rate of speed when he somehow veered across the southbound lane. After striking a barbed wire fence the 2002 GMC rolled over twice and wound up back on its wheels.
McAllister was transported to Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto for treatment. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected in this traffic collision.
After the second accident, which occurred Sunday evening shortly after 8 p.m., a 34-year-old man was subsequently arrested for a DUI.
Nicholas Azevedo of Concord was traveling west on Highway 26, west of Ponderosa Way at about 40 miles-per-hour in light rains, according to the CHP report. After losing control of his vehicle, a 1996 Ford, it left the roadway, struck a dirt embankment north of the highway and overturned.
The incident blocked the roadway for about an hour as responders worked to clear the wreck. Azevedo was transported for treatment of minor injuries at Mark Twain Medical Center.
