Council To Review Coffill Park And Vision Sonora Items
Sonora, CA — Several items await the Sonora City Council this evening.
The city will vote whether to allow for the temporary closure of Coffill Park for second Saturday concert events that are planned from June through October. It is at the request of the Sonora Chamber of Commerce, who is also requesting permission to sell alcoholic beverages at the events, pending approval from the police department and obtaining a state ABC license.
In addition, the council will review some proposed general modifications to Coffill Park. They include installing ADA access at Green Street, removing the existing ADA ramp and replacing it with a gate and fence, removing the monument storage building, adding lighting for the Coffill Park sign and pergola on Washington Street and improving the fencing along Sonora Creek. The changes are at the recommendation of the Vision Sonora Community Design Committee.
The city will also discuss a Vision Sonora Committee recommendation to use funds for professional help to develop a “brand” for downtown Sonora. If approved, the City Administrator will work with the City Attorney to come up with a process for solicitation of the services. Meeting documents note that the estimated costs should be “less than $10,000.”
Tonight’s meeting starts at 5pm at City Hall.
