St. Patrick’s Day and weekend events in the Mother Lode include the Annual Murphys Irish Days and more. First, the Annual Murphys Irish Days Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning will be followed by the Murphys Irish Day celebration and parade. As detailed here it is the 25th Anniversary of the popular event. No matter the weather expect bagpipes to play, over 130 vendors, live music and people wearing green. The Sierra Waldorf School Auction is Hollywood-themed this year. The event will offer a catered dinner by Sonora High culinary students, live and silent auctions, dancing (costumes encouraged) and fundraising. Details and ticket information is in the event listing.
Also this Saturday evening from 8pm to midnight, there will be a fundraiser for Athletic Scholarship Foundation of Tuolumne County. As detailed here, the money raised will help pay fees and equipment costs for local soccer programs, little league, softball and even gymnastics facilities to promote healthy habits for children. The event will be held at the Twain Harte Golf Course Clubhouse; other details are in the event calendar. More dancing will be happening at the Aronos Club in Sonora. For a quiet hike meet up at Glory Hole Recreation Area and New Melones Lake in Angels Camp at 10am. Tour an area that burned in 2015 and listen to Park Ranger Mike McGraw explain how the area went from Fire to Flowers. The Old Timers Museum will offer a walking tour of Murphys, also at 10am.
As detailed here, Cub Scout Pack 570 will present their Pinewood Derby this Sunday at the Sonora Elks Lodge. Also Sister Act continues performances Friday and all weekend at the Sierra Repertory Theatre.
