Mother Lode Thanksgiving Community Dinners

Sponsored by:

For those seeking good food and to share a Thanksgiving plate, there is a place at the table at several local locations.

Daryl Sarina, Christian Heights Business Administrator and Special Events Coordinator, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Tonight, from 5:30PM to 7:00PM, Christian Heights Church and The Heart Rock Coffee Company (formally known as Heart Rock Cafe) are hosting their annual Sit-Down Dinner.  Meals will be available to take to someone in need and meals will be delivered to locations starting at 4:00PM if arrangements have been made. More information is in the event listing or call (209) 532-7305.

According to Sarina, “This is a community event. Everyone is invited.”

Additionally today, from Noon to 6PM at the Tuolumne Memorial Hall, eat in, take out, or call for in-home delivery to Tuolumne City families. To help serve or donate food call Mother Lode Christian School and Chapel in the Pines organizers at 928-4337 or 586-5701.

The Groveland area has already hosted some Thanksgiving Dinners this month but the annual Thanksgiving Feast on Thanksgiving is held at the Groveland Community Hall. Serving time will be 11:30AM to 4PM. They expect to serve 350 to 400 people as they did last year. If you would like to volunteer and help serve call JoAnne Bacci at 962-5912. The event is sponsored by the Fire Safe Council of Groveland and funded by donations that can be sent to Groveland Thanksgiving Feast PO Box 55, Big Oak Flat, CA 95305 or donate when you come in the door.

Members of the Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge invite the public to a free Thanksgiving Dinner from 1pm to 4pm on Thanksgiving day in Arnold. The lodge prepares traditional Thanksgiving favorites. If you would like to attend call the lodge at (209) 795-3112 and let them know how many will be attending, more details are here.

The Sonora United Methodist Church also invites the community to a potluck Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thanksgiving Day from Noon to 3 pm. Turkey, roast pork, and a vegetarian main dish, will be provided along with mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, gravy and rolls. For the potluck, please bring a dessert, or relishes. Donations of canned food for the Mother Lode food project green bag program and volunteer help with the dinner will be gratefully accepted. For location, parking and contact information view their event listing here.

The Alano club’s free Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings is on Thursday afternoon, starting at 3pm. The event and club are located at 19421 Village Drive in Sonora.  For more information call 532-9838.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML.
