Illegal Marijuana Farms Busted In Calaveras County
West Point, CA — Several arrests were made in Calaveras County in the West Point area yesterday.
Sheriff Rick DiBasilio confirms that 23 workers were arrested at three illegal marijuana grow sites and the suspects were taken into custody without incident. Around 1,000 plants were confiscated, total. The Sheriff stresses that these specific illegal grow operations negatively impacted the environment, as there was a tall pile of empty pesticide containers, human waste and garbage scattered throughout the sites. Several trees were cut down and areas were graded unlawfully to grow the marijuana. The Sheriff indicates an investigation in the Bay Area, specifically Milpitas, tipped off law enforcement to the illegal grow sites in Calaveras County.
It is the second high profile marijuana related incident in the past week in Calaveras County. We reported on Monday that a suspect, Kevin Lous Cucuk of Pioneer, was arrested for armed robbing a marijuana grow site in West Point.
