Update: Serious Injuries In HWY 49 Motorcycle Crash
Update at 7 p.m.: The CHP reports Highway 49 has completely reopened and traffic is moving freely once again.
Update at 6:40 p.m.: The CHP reports major injuries in a three vehicle pile up on Highway 49 at the O’Hara Road intersection in Sonora. The driver of a motorcycle and another person were taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center suffering major injuries. Officers are still directing one-way traffic control on the highway as tow crews work to remove the wreckage, which could take another hour, according to the CHP. Motorists were being turned around and redirected by officers for about an hour. The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Update at 5:55 p.m.: The CHP is directing one-way traffic control on Highway 49 after a three vehicle pile up, including a motorcycle, just after 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The roadway was shutdown for more than 45 minutes as officer redirected traffic. The motorcycle driver and another person has been taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center.
Original post at 5:30 p.m.: Sonora, CA — The CHP reports three vehicles were involved in the crash that has stopped traffic on the Highway 49.
A motorcycle and two vehicles collided at the intersection of O’Hara Drive. The CHP reports officers are redirecting traffic as there is wreckage and debris is covering the roadway. Traffic is getting backed up.
