San Andreas, CA – A DUI driver injured herself in a two-vehicle wreck Thursday.

According to CHP San Andreas Unit spokesperson Officer Toby Butzler the incident happened Thursday in the noon hour along Highway 4 west of Borbe Road. He states that Elizabeth Simberlund, 40, of Coarsegold was driving a 2006 Honda west at about 65 miles-per-hour and allowed the vehicle to cross over the double-yellow lines where it hit another vehicle in the eastbound lane before careening down a north-shoulder embankment.

Butzler adds that she suffered moderate injuries and was arrested at the scene for driving while under the influence of alcohol before being transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Arnold residents Donald and Nancy Cooper, 75 and 82 years old respectively, were the driver and passenger in the 2007 Ford vehicle that Simberlund reportedly hit. They had been traveling at about 35 miles-per-hour at the time and sustained minor injuries for which they sought their own aid.
