There are many events this weekend including the 10th Annual ‘Meals on Wheels’ Fundraiser in addition to the Sonora High Football game tonight.
Saturday the 10th Annual ‘Meals on Wheels’ Fundraiser at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park will feature live entertainment, a historic train ride, dinner catered by Seven Sisters, live and silent auctions and raffle prizes. Habitat for Humanity Calaveras is hosting its 12th Annual Hoedown for Habitat on Saturday at Murphys Park. The event include a barbecue dinner with all the fixings, a no-host bar, live entertainment, a silent auction and a raffle. Ticket details are in the event’s listing here.
On Saturday the Marine Corps League Motherlode Detachment #1080 will sponsor the First Annual Gavin Brummund Memorial Trail Run. The Run will be held at White Pines Park in Arnold to benefit a scholarship fund for Calaveras college-bound seniors on the wrestling team. Marine Lance Corporal Gavin Brummund grew up in Arnold and was a 4 year Varsity Bullfrog wrestler. After High School Gavin became an infantryman with Third Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment and completed a combat deployment to Iraq in 2008. Gavin then deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and lost his life in the service of our Country. Gavin is the only Calaveras County Marine to die during the Global War on Terrorism. Sunday is the Back To School Round Up at Tuolumne Memorial Park. Games for kids will win school supplies as prizes, plus, there will be kid-friendly crafts, juggling and storytelling. The Back to School Round Up is an outreach of Tuolumne Community Baptist Church.
Next weekend is Labor Day Weekend, Monday September 5 is a Federal Holiday. As reported here next weekend Strawberry Music Festival will be held in Tuolumne.
