Man Faces Vehicular Manslaughter For Angels Camp Crash Killing Son

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — There are sad new developments related to a crash we first reported on last week.

The incident occurred back on August 2nd along Riata Way north of Tapadero Street in Angels Camp. The driver, 31-year-old Tyler Nichols of Jackson was arrested for suspicion of DUI, and his four-year-old son Jace Nichols, suffered major injuries. The CHP now reports that the son has tragically passed away from those injuries sustained. He had been receiving care at UC Davis Medical Center.

The CHP will be filing a new charge of vehicular manslaughter against the father. The crash occurred due to Nichols losing control of the 2003 Saturn Ion, traveling off the road, and hitting a large tree. The crash happened at approximately 6:20pm. The CHP report that Nichols’ intoxication led to the crash. No other vehicles were involved with the incident.
