Update: Vegetation Fire Off HWY 108 Forward Rate Stopped

Update at 6:45 p.m.: Cal Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff reports that the acreage has grown from 20 to 30 but the forward rate of spread has been stopped on the Frymire Fire, which is now 15 percent contained. Additionally, the structure threat has been mitigated. Shoff adds that crews will continue working on the blaze overnight.

Original post at 6:15 p.m.: Knights Ferry, CA — Ground and air crews are battling a vegetation fire near the Knights Ferry area along the  Tuolumne and Stanislaus County line.
The flames are burning in the 17000 block of Frymire and Morrison roads off Highway 108. Cal Fire has dubbed it the Frymire Fire. Spokesperson Lindy Shoff says that it is 20 acres burning in oak and woodland at a moderate rate of spread. Structures are threatened but there are no evacuations at this time, according to Shoff, who adds that the flames have crossed the Stanislaus River. The CHP has been called in to direct traffic on Highway 108 at Kennedy Road. However, shoff says no roads are closed at this time.
