Senior Housing Development Project Endorsed By Commission

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Revised plans for a senior housing development off Tuolumne Road cleared a planning commission hurdle last night.

We reported previously that the Board of Supervisors in 2013 approved plans for the Eagle Ridge Subdivision.  It called for two assisted living facilities with a total of 160 units, a medical offices building, and 24 senior residential townhomes (21 four-plexes and three duplexes totaling 90 units). It is for ages 55 and older.

A revised proposal was submitted to the county this past March by the developers Edward and Carla Brown. It now calls for one assistant living facility to house the 160 units, elimination of the medical offices, and the townhomes would be reduced to 67 units. The project site is located on Eagle Ridge Drive West, approximately 460 ft. southwest of Tuolumne Road.

Last night, after hearing no opposition from the public, the planning commission endorsed the project. Community Resources Agency Director Bev Shane reports that the Board of Supervisors will have the final say on its approval. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2nd, at 1:30pm.
