Report Details Salaries Of Local Government Employees

Sacramento, CA — California’s Controller has released a new report comparing the salaries of government employees in cities and counties across the state.

According to Controller Betty Yee, Tuolumne County had 897 employees in 2015 and the average wage was $43,346. The average additional amount spent on employees healthcare and retirement was $15,804. Tuolumne County had one county employee for every 61 residents. The amount of money spent per resident on county employee wages equates to $708. The highest wage earner was a Psychiatrist with the Behavioral Health Department making $242,200, followed by the CAO with $204,473, the Health Officer at $188,431 and the Community Resources Agency Director with $188,401. In the City of Sonora the average wage was $40,405 and the retirement and health cost per employee was $8,343. There was one city employee for every 66 residents. The City Administrator was the top wage earner with $154,522, followed by the Police Chief with $141,737.  Find a rundown by clicking here.

Calaveras County had 597 employees with an average salary of $48,941. The average health and retirement cost per employee was $14,653. There was one county employee per every 76 residents. The amount of money spent per resident on county employee wages equates to $646. A Psychiatrist was the top wage earner with $264,235, followed by the CAO with $207,191 and the District Attorney with $175,152. Click here for more information.
