Tulloch Fire Reaches 90% Containment
Tuolumne County, CA — Fire crews have nearly extinguished the Tulloch Fire burning in Tuolumne County.
CAL Fire reports that six engines and three crews remain assigned to the incident. The fire is 85 acres and 90% contained. It is not clear how soon there will be full containment. As reported previously, the fire was ignited by fireworks that were lit from the back of a boat, just up river from the O’Byrnes Ferry bridge. The fire ignited during the three o’clock hour on Monday. By late that evening over 125 firefighters were assigned to the incident and five air-tankers were flying overhead. It was a hot afternoon with temperatures reaching the 90’s.
The fire burned heavily in a river canyon between Lake Tulloch and New Melones Reservoir.
