Dangerous Waters: Drownings In Amador County and Oakdale
Sadly, there were a couple of drownings in the region over the weekend.
Yesterday the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said two 15-year-old boys are presumed dead after jumping off a boat in the Woodward Reservoir on Saturday and not resurfacing. The boys were recreating with other friends and family members. Dive teams responded Saturday and continued the search yesterday, but have not yet located the presumed drowning victims.
In Amador County, two 18-year-olds, a male and female, drowned after falling into the swift moving Mokelumne River on Saturday. The Sheriff’s Office reports that neither were wearing life jackets and were swept away by the river.
We reported late last week that law enforcement officials were encouraging everyone to use extra caution over Memorial Day due to rising lake levels. Click here to read the story.
