An Offered Ride Results In A Carjacking

San Andreas, CA – A man wielding a knife, cut a woman as he stole not only her cell phone, but also her car after she gave him a ride.

The carjacking took place in San Andreas around 10 p.m. but before that the 18-year-old woman picked up a man, unknown the her, at the Burger King in Valley Springs.  She told Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies that she offered to drive him to his friend’s place at the San Andreas Apartments in the 440 block of Highway 49/E. Saint Charles Street. When the two arrived at the apartments the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and ordered the woman to give him her cell phone.  The woman resisted when the suspect reached for the phone, and deputies note she suffered a minor cut to her wrist.  The suspect drove away in the victim’s 2010 Black Mazda MZ3 sedan with California license plate 6NBT581 heading west bound on Highway 49.  Neither the car or the man have been located yet.

The investigation is ongoing with detectives reviewing security camera footage. The suspect is described as a white adult male approximately 5’ 6” to 5’ 8” with a stocky build.  He was wearing black shoes, blue jeans, a light colored shirt, black hat, and black backpack.  Anyone with information regarding the incident can contact the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at (209) 754-6030.
