Calaveras County, CA — The CHP reports that no one was injured when a motorhome overturned on Highway 49.

The crash occurred Monday afternoon just south of Union Mine Road in Calaveras County at approximately 12:35pm. The two passengers from Sonora, 78-year-old Jerold David Gritz and 74-year-old JoAnn Gritz, escaped without injuries.

The CHP reports that Highway 49 will be closed for approximately twenty minutes, starting at 2pm today, in order to remove the remains of the motorhome.

Regarding the details of the crash, the CHP reports that the 2006 Jayco started to drift off the right shoulder, and Gritz steered to the left across both traffic lanes. The motorhome, and a Ford Ranger in tow, overturned down an embankment.

The two inside exited the vehicle and waited for law enforcement officials to arrive on scene.
