Angels Camp, CA – Nearly 42 students in Calaveras County have received money since the Career and Technical Training scholarship’s (C&TT) inception in 2010 allowing them to pursue a career path.
So far, $46,000 has been awarded to students in the past six years. Just this week, the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF), which administers the fund, announced receiving a generous $5000 donation from the Angels Camp Save Mart grocery store. The scholarship gives students options to pursue training or further education besides heading to a traditional four-year college. Foundation officials note that a wide range of opportunities exists in the Mother Lode for associate degrees and certificates that can lead to good paying technical or vocational jobs.
Last year, six high school students from Bret Harte, Mountain Oaks and Calaveras High Schools were each awarded $1500 to further their career paths, which included fields in medical, fire science and law enforcement.
