McClintock Endorses Cruz For President
The morning after his Iowa Caucus win comes the announcement that Ted Cruz has picked up the endorsement of Mother Lode Congressman Tom McClintock.
McClintock, the District Four Republican represents the Mother Lode region. The Cruz campaign announced the endorsements from four California lawmakers, including McClintock, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, Assemblyman Matthew Harper and Assemblywoman Shannon Grove. McClintock had previously endorsed Scott Walker before the Wisconsin Governor left the race.
The Mother Lode’s previous Congressional Representative, Republican Jeff Denham, who now represents the Central Valley, earlier announced his endorsement of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
Cruz won the Republican Iowa Caucus last night with 27.6% of the vote, businessman Donald Trump had 24.3% and Florida Senator Marco Rubio had 23.1%. On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton narrowly led the way with 49.9% and Senator Bernie Sanders was second with 49.6%.
The primary field will likely be thinned out by the time California voters weigh in on June 7th.
