Updated at 5:30 p.m.: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Andrea Benson provides more details in the arrest of a wanted man. 27-year-old Joshua Power was arrested when the car he was in was pulled over in a traffic stop. Sgt. Benson states the wanted man was one of two passengers in a vehicle driven by an unidentified female. According to Sgt. Benson, Power jumped out of the car in an attempt to flee, and also pulled out a utility knife. Sgt. Benson reports Power was apprehended by a K9 unit and the dog bit him. Power was treated for his injury at Sonora Regional Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.

Jailed with no bail, Power faces numerous charges stemming from a January 18 incident during which he allegedly attacked his wife, from whom he is separated, and her two-year-old child after forcing his way into her Groveland home. Among the charges are kidnapping, robbery, domestic violence, corporal injury to a child, making criminal threats, burglary and a parole violation.

Also taken into custody during the same traffic stop was a second passenger, Kevin Roberts, who is wanted on a felony weapons charge warrant out of Stanislaus County. His bail was set at $50,500.
