Update: Sierra Winter Storm Warning For Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada from 4 AM Sunday to 4 AM Monday.

Temperatures will range from the mid twenties to lower thirties.

Total snow accumulations are expected to range from four inches to two feet above 5000 feet.

Winds of twenty to thirty mph are forecast, with gusts up to seventy mph over the higher ridges and the crest.

In the Central Valley, wind gusts will range from forty to fifty-five mph. There may be local power outages.

Total rainfall amounts will range from one to three inches in the Mother Lode and the Sierra Nevada.

There may also be isolated thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening.

A Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or are occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
