Angels Camp, CA — An employee of a hardware store in Angels Camp jumps on the hood of an alleged robber’s vehicle in an attempt to stop him from stealing a chainsaw.

The Angels Camp Police report the robbery happened at Calaveras Lumber on 155 South Main Street. When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect had already left the store. An employee told police that that a man came into the store grabbed $1,200 chainsaw and walked out. The worker ran to the parking lot and stood in front of the robber’s vehicle shouting at him to stop. The driver then revved the engine. The employee says to prevent being run over, he jumped onto the hood of the vehicle. After about 30 feet, the driver slammed on the brakes causing the employee to fly onto the pavement suffering moderate injuries.

Police released a vehicle description, its direction of travel, and a partial license plate number to all law enforcement. A Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle on Dogtown Road near Esmerelda Road and arrested 21-year-old Troy Premo of Valley Springs. The chainsaw was not located in the vehicle. Premo is charged with several felonies including robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
