Stolen Vehicle Found Burned

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA — A suspect escaped after leading Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase, but the vehicle was later found on fire.

At 12:30am the Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a stolen red 1992 Honda at the intersection of Soulsbyville Road and Willow Springs Drive. The Honda had been stolen out of Ceres. The driver failed to yield and led deputies on an 8.6 mile pursuit through Willow Springs, then east up Highway 108, and eventually to Confidence Road.  At that point the driver went up an old CAL Fire dozer line, and the Sheriff’s Office deemed it was no longer safe to continue the chase.

At around 3am a fire was spotted in the area of Mt. Provo, so law enforcement officials responded. They used ATV’s to follow the path that was left by the Honda. Eventually the stolen vehicle was found burned and abandoned. After the fire was extinguished the vehicle was confiscated by the CHP for investigation. There are no suspects at this time. Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 209-533-5815.
