Body Recovered At New Melones

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department has a possible murder mystery on its hands as its coroner confirms a body recovered from a local reservoir looks to be a suspicious death.

According to sheriff’s department spokesperson Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt, due to its current caseload, which includes a high-profile triple-homicide last week in Railroad Flat, it has not yet been able to gather or provide much information on a body that was recently discovered at New Melones Reservoir.

Coroner Kevin Raggio confirms that the badly decomposed body was recovered from the mud underneath the old Parrotts Ferry bridge on Oct. 9 and that it was initially discovered by gold miners. He adds that his office is now working to confirm the gender and identity. Both department officials indicate they are unable to provide further comment on the investigation, other than indicating that it is expected to take some time to resolve.
