Injuries Result From Calaveras County Crashes

Sponsored by:

There were two significant vehicle accidents in Calaveras County over the weekend.

The CHP reports that the first occurred at 5:30am on Saturday. 27-year-old Dino Caraveo Jr. of Tracy was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 in a 2002 Honda Civic. Due to his level of intoxication, the CHP reports that he allowed his car to drift into the opposing traffic lane, directly into the path of a Ford Fiesta driven by Cecilia Ferreira, 47, of Valley Springs. The crash occurred near the intersection of Jenny Lind Road. Ferreira suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mark Twain Medical Center. Caraveo received minor injuries caused by his seatbelt, but he declined medical care. He was later arrested for DUI.

The second accident happened shortly before midnight on Saturday along Highway 4 east of Vallecito Bypass Road. Three 16-year-old males, residing from Murphys, Angels Camp and Arnold, were inside a 2007 Mini Cooper. Due to the high rate of speed, the vehicle spun out of control and struck several trees. The CHP reports that drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the collision. Two of the minors involved were taken to Mark Twain Medical Center to treat major injuries and the third individual was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto to treat major injuries.
