30-Acre Fire Burning In Yosemite

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — There is a fire burning in Yosemite National Park that has caused some nearby trails to be closed.

The Bridalveil Fire is visible from areas like Yosemite Valley, Sentinel Dome and the North Rim of the Valley. It was first spotted last week and it is has burned 30 acres. It is currently not threatening any communities or structures. However, the Pohono Trail is closed from Dewey Point south to the trail junction from Taft Point and McGurk Meadow. The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is noted that there has been no lightning activity in that area since early August.

The fire is being actively suppressed. There is a helicopter assigned, as well as Yosemite fire crews and two Forest Service hot shot teams.
