FEMA Helping Displaced Fire Victims

Calaveras County, CA — FEMA reports that 785 households in Calaveras County have now requested federal assistance stemming from the Butte Fire.

FEMA spokesperson Victor Inge adds that nearly 2,000 requests have also been made in response to the Valley Fire that ignited days after the Butte Fire, in Lake, Sonoma and Napa counties. A combined $2.5 million have been allocated to households impacted by the fires, according to Inge. The money helps pay for temporary housing and basic essentials. FEMA inspectors are actively meeting with those impacted by the fire, at the site of burned homes, so additional funding will likely be allocated in the weeks ahead. He encourages anyone impact by the Butte Fire, who has not registered, to do so as soon as possible. You can find more information by clicking here.
