Sonora, CA — This week’s guest on Mother Lode Views ends our five part series speaking with all of the Tuolumne County Supervisors on a range of issues from wildfires, water to the economy and jobs.
District 5 Supervisor Karl Rodefer, whose district includes Columbia and Jamestown dives into discuss the issue of water and the drought with those areas hit hard by failing wells. Rodefer notes he is a Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) customer and has a well. He notes that from day one, the county has been telling people, “Hey, just because you’re on a well, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be conserving because the surface water situation is going to eventually get to the ground water situation…So, even if we get a really good wet winter that isn’t necessarily recharge wells.”
