Fire Closes Trails In Yosemite

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — Yosemite National Park officials are working to extinguish a three acre fire that was discovered by hikers yesterday afternoon. The Upper Fire is situated at the top of the Yosemite Falls Trail. All of the trails leading to Yosemite Falls are temporarily closed. Two helicopters, and 14 firefighters, are assigned to the incident this morning. The fire was determined to be human caused, and an active investigation is ongoing.

Also, firefighters continue to monitor a separate fire that ignited last month along the Yosemite Creek Campground Road. Firefighters have burned out at line around the 38 acre Dark Fire, but it continues to smolder. The nearby Lukens Trail is currently closed.
